I think Victorine Meurent looks so glamorous in Young Lady in 1866, which is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I put it at the top of today’s post because April turned glamorous for me: Paris Red made it onto “must read” lists at InStyle and Harper’s Bazaar.

InStyle said, “You’ll be caught up in the rich and sensuous world that Gibbon weaves right from the beginning. Oui indeed!” You can read the full list of InStyle April book club pick here. (Paris Red is #7.)

And here is the link for the Harper’s Bazaar mention, which says that Paris Red is “an intense and erotic depiction” that “explores the legacy of artist, muse, and masterpiece.”

I’ll get to see Young Lady in 1866 when I go to New York next week, and I can’t wait.
